Nail fungus types
Onychomycosis is common name of nail fungus infection. Onychomycosis nail fungus type is also named as Tinea Unguium or Ringworm. This nail fungus infection caused by a fungal family named as Trichophyton that can spread over skins, hairs or nails. Generally nail fungus infections are more popular in males than female and males above 40 years are common suffered of nail fungus infections.
Nail fungus infections are a progressive infection of fingernails and toenails. You can attempt a medical test to diagnose nail fungus type. KOH and fungal culture is two nail fungus diagnosis tests to identify types of nail fungus. If you go with KOH test then you can know that result in few hours. Fungal culture takes 3 to 4 weeks to identify fungal type but it offers appropriate result.
This test results can be more appropriate if you trim your nail before the test. Any medical test requires some debris from under the nails that can be better taken from trimmed nails.
You should consult with skin care specialist for treatment of any nail fungus type. But it can take long time. If you are free from nail fungus infection then it is better to take some precautions to avoid it.
